Daily Update, September 17, 2008
We are still blogging! I just haven’t had a lot of time to sit at the computer. I have lots to say but can only do it a little at a time. My parents left yesterday, Israel left on Saturday, Izzabelle had some doctors appointments and I went to my first bowling league game. This blog will be a work in progress today…
I will start with Izzy’s update. She is doing great. She weighs 6lbs 8oz as of last Thursday. I took her to the lung center appointment where they downloaded the report from her monitor. Turns out she had one real alarm in the weeks we have had her home. The doctor
at the lung center turned out to be the wife of one of Lonni’s former colleagues. When she asked me some background questions she figured out that I was married to Lonni and it all clicked. We knew we looked familiar to each other. We actually attended a Christmas party at her house our first year here. It was really nice to have someone I knew as Izzy’s doctor. I felt like she would give it to me straight. Anyway, she adjusted Izzy’s monitor and gave me some advice as to where to place the pads on her so we wouldn’t get so many false alarms. Izzy has to have the monitor till next Wednesday when we will go back for another appointment. They will let us know then if we will need it after that. Having Tio Izzy here sure made it easy to get to all the doc appointments. We didn’t have to pay for a babysitter when Tio was around! :o)…
On that subject…Tio left to go back home on Saturday. :o( We missed him as soon as he left. Lonni had a Wii partner in crime. They stayed up Friday night trying to beat a tennis game we rented from Blockbuster. I believe Tio ended up leaving Buffalo a “loser”. He was not able to win one game, doubles or singles. We felt bad about that. I don’t know if this will cause him to HAVE to purchase the Wii now or if it will keep him from EVER wanting one. LOL. This is a picture of Tio trying to ski on the Wii balance board. This balance board is actually part of the Wii Fit which keeps track of your weight and has some activities to help you loose weight. You can use it for other things like skiing. It is harder than you think but so much fun.
I went to my first bowling game last Friday. Two things come to mind
when I think about it; One. I had a great time; Two. Boy am I out of shape! LOL. We played three games, my legs hurt and the ball got heavier and heavier as the night went on. I didn’t do great, but for not having picked up a bowling ball in over 5 years, I did pretty good. I did break 100 on my second game, but averaged only a 98. This is not bad since they will use these scores to obtain my handicap! LOL! I can bowl really good with a high handicap. I think I may have to invest in a new bowling ball to go with the new shoes my mother bought me. :o)
Mom and Dad left yesterday and boy do I miss them. Mom hasn’t lost her touch in the kitchen. Boy was the food good and it was so nice to not have to come up with ideas about what to make to eat. She left me with some awesome beans in the freezer. I can already tell you that rice and beans will be on our menu for a few nights this month! Mom was so great taking care of Izzy for us whenever she was around. I know most of that was because she wanted to spend as much time with Izzy as possible, so it was a win win situation for all of us. Wil and McKinley were in heaven every time Lalo and Lala walked in the house. They would get soooo excited when they saw them coming. They would run around the house to get me to open the door. “Lalo and Lala are HERE! I SEE Them! Come, Come, Mamma, Open the door!” The laughs and silliness was a constant in the house.
We went out to the zoo and to lunch with them before they left. The
kids were ready to get out after a couple days of rain. We were blessed with the most beautiful day out of the entire week. The zoo just opened a new rainforest exhibit so we all got to see it for the first time together. We had a great Mexican lunch at a restaurant Lonni and I found recently. Then we had to say goodbye. Lalo and Lala had rented a car so we didn’t need to take them to the airport. We said goodbye in the parking lot of the restaurant. I knew the goodbye part would be hardest on Lala. She loves being with us and we love her. I cried just thinking about how much I knew it hurt her to have to leave us.
You know, since the ordeal with Izzy at the hospital, I am more conscience of saying proper goodbyes. The night at the hospital, one comfort I had was that I had told the kids I loved them and gave them hugs and kisses. If something had happened to me that night, the last thing they would have heard me say to them was that I loved them. So, now every time I leave someone I make sure to tell them I love them and give them hugs and kisses. You never know when it will be the last time.
The kids woke up this morning asking if Lalo and Lala would be coming over soon. It broke my heart to have to tell them again that they were in Florida and could not come by to see them. Lalo and Lala, we love you and miss you crazy. :o)

Grandma/Grandpa Wilson: Oh boy, the ornament clusters brought back memories; I can remember Lonni and Jody doing the same thing. And of course, we too had to sneek around when they weren't watching and spread them out...lol. I'm sure as you continue the traditions at your house, they will have wonderful memories of them as they grow and then raise their own children...and the legacy continues! Have a wonderful Christmas, we absolutely wish we could be there, but alas, we do love snow---only from a distance this days. TV, mountain tops viewed from our valley, and lots of your "snow" pictures are
Melodia Wilson: Thankfully, no one had to give up a Lazy boy. Amazing but true, we were able to keep all three chairs and the kiddie table in the living room! LOL! It's a tight fit, but we managed. Hehehe.
ang: The tree looks great with only one thing missing - snowflakes! FYI: Born and raised in snowbelt country and there is no beating the true Lake Effect machine. Try sitting by Lake Erie watching the clouds roll in and the snow blanket all around you---that is a true WNY experience. We know it can snow any time even after a 70 degree day in mid March! Glad to see the kids enjoy the snow it is a true icon of this region try out the huge hills at Jamestown Community College--when they are about 10! As an adult it was
Lala: Mel you outdid yourself! Great job!
Lonni Wilson: C'mon, that candy thing isn't all me. Besides, that's how I was raised... my dad was a connoisseur of candy. Oh, and understand someone, I was buying bulk candy in junior high and taking it to school in a tupperware box in my backpack... yeah, a regular "candy man" and I loved it! So c'mon, jokes all around about the candy guy.
