This is actually just a couple more pics from yesterday when we were shopping at KMart.  No new news since my 4am update. LOL.  I woke up at 830a.  Not much sleep.  The kids are still sick.  Izzy’s sleeping a lot.  But putting her in the swing is causing her breathing monitor to go off frequently.  So we’ve stopped that for the moment.

In other news, we’ve had our 30 acre property on the market since January.  We really love it, but with the economy so tight, we figured it’d be better to not be paying so many payments.  At any rate, we hadn’t had a lick of movement.  Then the realtor called yesterday.  He’s had several calls on it this week, and one who may put in an offer.  Of course, having sold a house just 6 months ago, we know how that works (it’s like the check that’s in the mail!).  But, it would be nice to see an offer come in and let this property go.

We’re still keeping a 3.7 Acre property we purchased about a 1/2 mile up the road from our friends Adam and Danelle Padd, out in the country in the Bemus Point/Jamestown, NY area.  Being smaller, it was less expensive, so the payments aren’t a big hit on the budget. Not sure yet if we’ll build a cabin there.  Every summer, we’ve wanted to build, but it hasn’t come together in the Big Plan, yet. So we continue to wait and see.  Pray that we’ll sell the 30acres, though. That’d be great.

The Fair

We headed to the Erie Co. Fair - aka America’s Fair - today. We’ve gone every year since we moved here, four summers running. Wil first went when he was only three months old. Now, at 3 years and 3 months, he can appreciate it event more.

We spend most of our time at the fair around the various animals. The kids love seeing animals, any chance they get, whether its the zoo, the fair, a farm, or the pet shop– any chance to see animals, they’re in. Animals fascinate them. It’s great.

So today we saw: horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits, ducks, chicken, peacocks, guineas, fish (trout, panfish, etc.), and birds of prey (owls, hawks, and falcons–Papi’s favorite part). The kids had a great time in the nursery area looking at the baby pigs and petting the baby calves. In fact, our kids are all about touching. One might think kids learn by touch. Every time we walked into a new building, “Papi, can we touch them?”

The kids also had a first today. This was their first taste of cotton candy. Wil was less apprehensive than McKinley and soon found himself with 10 sticky fingers. McKinley wasn’t so sure about cotton candy; after all, it feels like clothing, how can it taste good? But once she got some of it melting in her mouth, she was more interested in it. Of course, mami loved it, too. And papi, well, his parents made sure he went to the fair every year as a kid, so he’s well versed in the wonders of cotton candy!

It does get a bit frustrating hearing that question thirty times, but I know that they just really want to get hands on with their surroundings. Being at the fair always makes me wish I had my farm(ette) up and running. At the least, I’d be fine with chickens and a few pigs. I have grown especially weary of city life over the last several years, longing to move into the country on several acres, and do a little farming. We bought two properties over the last year and a half (30acres and 4 acres) out in the country, but just haven’t yet built on either of them. I keep telling Melodia that I’m still just “dreaming the life, while others are living the dream.” Ahh, such is life.
